Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, is known for its art and architecture. The impressive La Sagrada Família church and other modernist landmarks designed by Antoni Gaudí are the fundamentals of the city's rich heritage. Museu Picasso and Fundació Joan Miró, 2 museums that feature modern art by their namesakes. National Art Museum of Catalonia, MNAC, includes a notable collection of romanesque church paintings, harbored in what was once the former Palace that reigned over the city.

Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, was built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. Its canals are lined with quintessential opportunities to embrace a romance with the individual whom you share a relaxing gondola ride.  The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs. Venice is still the heartbeat of the most intricate and ornate masquerade festivals.
